Convention Time

Jody Deller ~ Interim President

Our year is drawing to a close. The holidays are coming up, and will be here before we know it or are ready.

The TFRW Convention is the 18,19, & 20 of November and we have eight ladies going. I think that is the most we have ever had.  Stay tuned for a report.

Filing for places on the ballot begins Nov 28 and goes through Dec. 15.  The Department of Justice has put a hold on all redistricting in Texas and unless they make a decision  before then, there may be some confused candidates. The lawsuits that affect redistricting do not affect Kaufman County.

Our Christmas Party is December 4 at the Community Church in Crandall, more information will be forthcoming.

Here are a few photos from recent meetings…

Membership Growth

Janas Byrnes ~ Membership

Our Facebook campaign created a good amount of activity and we have added a few virtual friends! Hopefully those who expressed an interest in “making a difference” will begin to be involved in our club as we strive for conservative government.

Scarecrow Festival 2011Our booth at the Scarecrow festival was very productive as we shared information and gained five new members! I am excited to see growth and activity in our club. Please join me in spreading the word and share us on Facebook and invite your friends to meetings and events.

Last month I had a wonderful helper and a food tester.  Michelle & Tyler.  Thank you so much

Carmel Apple Breakfast Pudding

2 large tart apples( Granny Smith)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup packed brown sugar
2 Tablespoons light-colored corn syrup
2 Tbsp. butter
¼ pecan pieces
3 beaten eggs
11/4 cups milk
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. nutmeg
8 to 10 ½ slices of French bread

Peel, core and slice apples (should have at least 2 cups).  In a small saucepan combine apple slices and ¼ cup water.  Bring to boiling; reduce heat.  Cook covered, over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally.  Drain in colander.  Transfer apples to a small bowl.  Gently stir cinnamon into cooked apples.  Set aside.  In the same saucepan combine brown sugar, light-colored corn syrup and butter.  Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture comes to a boil.  Remove from heat.  Pour mixture into a 2-quart square baking dish.  Sprinkle pecans over all.  In a medium mixing bowl combine the eggs, milk vanilla, and nutmeg.  Arrange a layer of half the bread slices in the baking dish atop the carmel mixture, trimming bread to fit.  Spoon cooked  apples evenly over bread layer.  Arrange remaining bread slices on top.  Carefully pour the egg mixture over bread, pressing the bread down gently to moisten the slices completely.  Cover with plastic wrap and refridgerate for at least 3 hours or up to 24 hours.  At serving time, remove plastic wrap.  Bake uncovered, in a 325” oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.  Remove from oven, run a knife around edge to loosen.  Let stand 15 minutes.  Carefully invert pudding onto a platter  (spoon any remaining carmel mixture in dish over pudding)  Serve warm or cool.  Makes 8 servings
