President's Message

Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the flowers is.  Well so much for poetry!

Spring is just around the corner, our spring rains have begun, flowers are sprouting and the grass is green,  although in Texas, we could have a cold snap or freeze before Easter on the 27th, which is early. Probably have to wear a light coat on Easter Sunday with that beautiful Easter Bonnet.

The March Primary elections are behind us and we congratulate those candidates who won their races outright.

The Runoff is ahead of us on May 24 , as well as any city or school elections that might be called on May 7.  All in all, it will be a busy month.

We have moved our meeting date from Saturday, March 19 to Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m., due to the Republican County Convention being held that day. More about that from our Membership Chair  Sandra W.

I hope many of you went to your Precinct Convention after the polls closed on Election night.  Last month we talked about the” Road to Convention” and the Precinct Convention was the first step.  If you would like to be a delegate or alternate to the State Convention and did not attend your Precinct Convention, you will find an application on www.kaufmancountygop.com website.  The instructions for submitting it are at the top of the application.  The deadline is March 16, but Chairman Weaver told me you could print the application, fill it out and bring it to the Convention .  The Kaufman County Republican County Convention will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Kaufman County Courthouse, 2nd Floor, 86th District Courtroom.  The Convention begins at 9:00 a.m. and the doors open at 8:00 a.m.

In the month of April, we will be having our “Empowering Women” luncheon, with well known author and talk show host of  “Ladies Can We Talk”, Debbie Georgatos as our keynote speaker.  Many of you may have heard her speak at our August meeting last year.  She is very dynamic and inspirational.

In May, TFRW has their “Tribute to Women” luncheon on Friday, May 13, during the State Republican Convention May12-14, 2016 .  If you are not familiar with the Tribute to Women, it is when each club selects members to honor for their hard work and commitment to the TFRW and the Republican Party.  Due to the size of our club we can only honor one woman and we have a committee looking at lots of candidates. We will vote on our choice at the March meeting.  If you are interested in going to the luncheon, please let me know, so far we have three (3) maybe four (4) interested.  You do not need to be a delegate to the State Convention  to participate in the luncheon. It will be at the Omni Dallas Hotel. The sooner we make our reservations the more likely it is that we can sit together, so let me know so we can coordinate ticket purchases.  Before April 19, tickets are $69.00. After the 19th they are $80. We can collect checks at the March meeting  so we just send one check in for registration. We have in the past voted to pay for the lunch of the honoree.

May 24 is the date of the Runoff Election.  Races included are Sheriff, Tax Assessor  and Commissioner Precinct 3.  Remember we can support the candidate of our choice, just not in the name of the Club.

OK ladies, the next couple of months are going to be busy, we will be working hard and playing hard. I am looking forward to seeing everyone on March 30.  Details of the location of the meeting will be sent directly to the members.  If you are new to our website and would like to attend the meeting send us and email and we will get back to you.

See you on March 30
