TFRW Convention 2009

An Experience to Remember

Nancy Murphy

What a wonderful experience at the Texas Federation of Republican Women Convention. I was so impressed with the organization, the speakers, the hotel & the fellowship of fellow Republican women. We heard from Governor Rick Perry, State Comptroller Susan Coombs, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams and many other Republican officials.

At each session we had prayer, pledge of the allegiance to American flag and the Texas flag and beautiful voices singing our National Anthem. It made me so proud to be an American & best of all to be a Republican. All of our sessions praised our military. One Republican Woman, Retired Marine Kelly Hoag was just marvelous as she honored and remembered our Troops.

We got to go to several workshops and one I really enjoyed was “Diversity in the GOP” presented by Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani (host of The Christian Politician Radio Show, KCHN 1050 AM in Houston). He also founded the organization

RagingElephants.org. This organization provides a wealth of ideas and information about how to “expand the GOP through outreach and straight talk.”

Other workshops presented were “Empowering the People” by Amy Clark, “Health Care Reform and What it means to you” by Arlene Wohlgemuth, and “Beating the Dems at Their Own Game: Using Education and Social Media” by Eric Golub.

Our own Kaufman County Republican Women’s club won the TFRW John Goodwin Tower Award for membership. Club President Jody Deller accepted the award.

If you ever have the opportunity, you should go to a Texas Federation of Republican Women Convention. It will truly lift your spirits.
