Serving Departing Troops at DFW Airport

Kaufman County Republican Women and other local Republicans took time to serve U.S. troops as they waited to board their plane back to Kuwait. Volunteers served a buffet catered by Eddie Deen’s of Terrell while others visited with the military men and women.

Each day, 150 to 250 troops pass through DFW Airport arriving or departing for a two-week R&R (Rest and Recuperation). Some have family to spend time with as they wait, but many of them are alone and appreciate the company.

Volunteers who represented Kaufman as they served our troops are: Linda Adair, Bill Bedrick, Kathy Bedrick, Donna Broder, Mary Jo Cason, Pam Eggett, State Representative-Elect Lance Gooden, Barbara Jo Green, Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones, Nancy Murphy, Tax Assessor-Collector Dick Murphy, Sherri Nilsson, Jessica Nixon, William “Skeet” Phillips, Leigh Phillips, Ken Schoen, and Don Thurman.
