May President's Message

After last month’s meeting, our District Director, Melanie Grammar called and said that she had a  serious infection and would not be able to attend the upcoming TFRW Spring Board Meeting in Austin.  I had planned to attend and Melanie asked me if I would serve as her Proxie at the Board Meeting.  I of course said yes, and I am really glad I did because there was so much good information presented.  On Friday morning, they had a special half day seminar “TFRW Keeps Texas Red” with lots of good information.  Some of the topics covered were using social media to get your message out, using hashtags #:  the Texas Victory 2014  plan and what the State Party is going to be doing in the future, concentrating on neighborhood walks, there are some exciting ideas in the works; GOTV with National Committeewoman Toni Anne Dashiell encouraging everyone to become a Deputy Voter Registrar and help get people registered to vote then help them get to the polls.  There are seven Republican Party regional offices open at this time with a goal of at least fourteen.  They will come to the counties for training.

The Executive Director of Maggie’s List was also there.  If you don’t know, Maggie’s List is named after Margaret Chase Smith to counter the Liberal Emily’s List. Our own Borah van Dormolen was a founding member.  This group is a Federal PAC and have a mission to get conservative women elected to office all over the country.  A Conservative Women’s Call to Action, asking What can I do to Make a Difference. I have attached a flyer with their activities and more information is available  at www.maggieslist.org.

Also, at the board meeting it was reported that over 100,000 hours had been reported, have your turned yours in?

Ladies, the Primary Run-off election is just around the corner, but we are far from being done.  The November election is our next challenge.  We know that Texas will remain RED, but we need to make sure we do our part to support and work for the Republican candidates who have Democrat opponents.  Not just in Texas, but in other parts of the country.  If you have family and/or friends who live in other states, contact them, get them motivated.  We can keep our U. S. House of Representatives and we can take the U. S. Senate.  President Obama and his progressive agenda must be stopped!

On a brighter note, at our last meeting Erleigh N. Wiley was voted to be our honoree at the Tribute to Women Luncheon that is held during the State Republican Party Convention.  The Luncheon is June 6 at 12:00 p.m. At the  Omni Hotel, Ft. Worth, during the Republican State Convention.  Early Bird registration is $59.00 before May 9 if you are interested in attending.
