May President's Message

Rhonda Hughey

We have had some exciting happenings since our last post.  Our own Erleigh Wiley was disrobed as a County Court at Law Judge, to be sworn in as our new Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney.  Chief Justice Carolyn Wright of the 5th Court of Appeals did the honors.   The following week the Commissioner’s Court voted to appoint local attorney Dennis Jones to the County Court at Law.

Relay quiltSeveral of our ladies participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life the first weekend of May.  Our team raised over $4500.00 Way to go ladies. The quilt was won by Ann Nance from Seven Points.  It was presnted to Ann on Sunday after the Relay.  Thanks to all those who participated in this very worthwhile activity.  Be sure to  put it on your calendar for next year.

After our next meeting, the Patrons are going to take a field trip to the Dallas Arboretum.  If you have not joined the Patrons, now would be a good time.  Our Patrons program is $100 and can be paid quarterly.  Since we try to allocate our funds to the candidates, these monies are used to do projects we might otherwise like to do.
