President's Message

April showers bring May flowers. That we have had…what a beautiful spring we are having in Kaufman county. The bluebonnets ares dancing in the fields, the Indian paint brushes are beaming with their majestic colors. This signifies new beginnings throughout our great county and state.

With the newness of spring signifying the awareness of summer months ahead summer meetings are usually not held. It has been tradition to take the months of June and July off from KCRW so vacations are not interrupted. However, this June we will be meeting in the later part of the month. State Representative Keith Bell and our State Senator, Bob Hall have agreed to bring us updates of the legislation that has taken place thus far in Austin. Please save the date of June 21st and make plans to attend a meeting located at the Kaufman High school from 7pm-8:30pm to welcome our state officials. This will be a great opportunity to bring guests and possibly new members.

Our next meeting is scheduled for this Monday, May 13th. Tracy Gray has invited our area Texas Ranger and our sheriff to come and enlighten us on public safety measures and speak on the immediate dangers county’s all around Texas are experiencing. The month of May  is recognized as law enforcement appreciation month. KCRW is planning on showing our appreciation through out our county to our officers. We will be discussing this within the business meeting. Our Sheriff, Brian Beavers will bring us an update of the safety concerns and issues he faces on daily basis that effect our cities and county. So you will want to be present to hear these great men. ( side note) we will be meeting back in the Kaufman library this month. Thank you Tracy for making these arrangements.

Trina Lopez and myself had our first meeting at a home of a child who is in need of a room make over. The need is great in our county and I am excited to know that we, KCRW, can make a measure of change in a child’s life who has had a difficult life experience. Trina will be giving us an update on this project. Along with our room make over, we are delivering meals on wheels fairly often. I am so proud of our organization taking great measures in our community with volunteering our time and resources to make Kaufman county a better place. The need is great and KCRW can fill a void, thank you all.

October is quickly approaching and our Bunco event will take place that month. Now is a good time to be collecting auction items and getting your guest list established. At our May meeting we will need to set the date. Bring your calendars.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday, May 13th.  We will be serving dinner promptly at 6:30 and will start our meeting as close to 6:45 as possible.

Caring for America

Meals on Wheels

April was a busy month for our members in Forney. Sandra Wilson , Ann Enlow, Denise Romero and Trina Lopez were able to step in and help deliver in Forney last month when needed.

Volunteer

We are currently working with CAC to decorate a room for an 11 year old girl. Sandra and Trina have visited the home and are currently working on ideas for the room. We will need help on the day we decorate so anyone that is able to volunteer, it would be greatly appreciated. The room will need to be completed before school is out of the 22nd and during school hours. Please contact Trina Lopez for further details.
