President's Message

Wow, my response to our last meeting..wow. We had some awesome new visitors and seeing everyone return from our summer break was so exciting. It won’t be long before we have filled every chair in the meeting room at the library. You ladies are doing an amazing job sharing the news of our phenomenal organization. We have to keep strong and steady to maintain our presence through out this county..great work.

With that, thank you for doing the work Governor Abbot has challenged us to do. I know it was a bit confusing and time restrictive last meeting but you ladies stepped up to the plate and took this challenge on in your spare time and I am very anxious to see the fruits of our labor come to full fruition. Please let me know if you have any returned addresses. The state would like a report so they can do what ever corrections they will need to do on their end.

This coming Monday, September 9, Amy Tarno, our membership chair will be our guest speaker for the meeting. She is going to explain what it means to be a member of KCRW, new or existing. She will cover the importance of TFRW,(Texas Federation of Republican Woman), the importance of our bylaws, the information on our committees, etc. In other words, the full spectrum of our existence. You know, some woman, some people, are not even sure the meaning of being Republican. This is not that unusual. So, Amy will be covering the meaning of what we, as Republican stand for, the conservative values we strongly believe. Please, think if there is someone you feel would benefit from our Monday evening meeting and be sure and bring them. It’s going to be so informative and educational. Thank you Amy.

Some news I need to share from TFRW. Last Tuesday I was part of a phone conference with the President of TFRW, Karen Newton. With most presidents on line she explained to us the new rate that NFRW, (National Federation of Republican Woman), will be charging the club members. They are in desperate need of an increase, so much to the fact that NFRW is in danger of closing if they don’t implement the increase. It’s a significant increase of $10.00 per member and they are saddened knowing this could put a strain on some clubs. She explained that it has long been over due and something they should have done a long time ago with slow increases but failed to do so. This wasn’t even common knowledge to the board until a new president was elected and did some serious research into the financial situation. So the best and only solution is to go forward with this $10.00 increase and through the coming years do a much smaller increase as needed. I am telling you this now because we will have to add this to our 2020 membership to send to TFRW…. Just  want you to be prepared. We cannot function as this organization without NFRW.

Bunco, is just around the corner. Saturday, September 28th will be here before we know it. I do hope everyone is working on auction items and sponsorship. This is our only fundraiser and it takes all of us working together to make it successful. Please let Rhonda, Erleigh or Bailey know if you have any items and sponsorships to report. Amy will be doing our printing and she will need that last week to get everything printed so please turn everything in by the 23rd. We will be supplying the meal with baked potatoes from Alfredo’s who will also furnish all of the sides for the potatoes. We will need to supply the salads and desserts. Please get with Cindy Rich @ 214-478-8001 and let her know how you will be contributing. Also, we need any card tables that you have and will let us use that evening. Chairs are being provided. We will have further discussion Monday night to fine tune the event. Ladies, this is so much fun and we are looking forward to our fund raiser.

Our election cycle is quickly approaching so at the event we will have a wine and cheese reception from 5-5:30 to allow everyone an opportunity to visit one on one with the candidates who will be running during the upcoming election. At 5:30 dinner will be served and soon after, games will begin. The event will be held at 5699 Bill Clements Blvd in Forney. It is known as the Amenity Center at Clements Ranch. Bring guests!!!!

So last meeting I had a sign up sheet to see who may want to become a voter registrar. Only 2 ladies signed the sheet.  I don’t know if it didn’t get circulated or just missed so if you are interested please contact me. Teressa at the Annex bldg will host classes on Tuesday mornings and I need to let her know how many will attend.

I only received one check from a member who wants a name badge. The cost is 10.00 and I cannot get just one printed. The printer will only take 20.00 or more for a one time print. If you are interested in a name badge please contact me for that as well. I can collect your check/money at the Monday meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday the 9th. Come ready to eat and to be informed with the membership meeting hosted by Amy Tarno.
