On Saturday, March 15, 2014, the Kaufman County Republican Women dedicated a granite bench to Terrell State Hospital in memory of former member Cynthia McLelland.
After the brutal slaying of former District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia, the club wanted to find a way to honor Cynthia. She was a nurse at Terrell State Hospital and loved what she did and loved her patients, so it was fitting to place the bench in front of the chapel.
