President's Message

Ladies!

Can you feel it???  Fall is coming!  We had a little taste last week, hoping it will swing back around soon for keeps!  Fall is a wonderful time of year for me with football, festivals, and better weather.  I’m sure you all feel the same.  Now the kiddos are all back in school and life settles into a rhythm.  We have some exciting things coming up for the club and I hope you’ll join us.

First up, our September meeting will be Monday, September 11.  Fellowship will start at 5:30, meeting at 6.  State Representative Keith Bell will be our speaker.  He’ll give us an update on what all has happened this year at the Legislature.  Bring your friends, family, neighbors and questions.  Lots of good information to be had.

If you haven’t already and feel inclined, please sign up on the Sign Up Genius to bring snacks to share with the club:  Monthly Meeting

Also, please recall the Texas Border Care Project is still collecting items from their needed list.  If you want to donate you can bring items to the meeting or you can ship them directly to the club that’s making the trip south.  Here is the list:

Water

Gatorade Powder

Propel

Individually Wrapped Snacks (not chocolate as it will melt)

1st Aid Items

Large Bandages

Latex Gloves (or disposable gloves)

Hand Sanitizer

Sunscreen

Clorox Wipes

Insect Repellent

$0.99 Shopping Bags

Here is the address/contact information if you want to ship direct:

Deb Wall

%Camino Real Republican Women

9 Inwood Crown

San Antonio, TX 78248

You can also send a check to the club to support their efforts if you want.

In more club news, the time has come to pick a new slate of officers for next term.  So, be thinking about whether you’d be willing to serve on the nominating committee.  We’ll be appointing the committee at the September meeting who will return their nominations at the October meeting and a vote will be taken at the November meeting.

Its not to late to decide to go to the TFRW Convention which will be held in Irving on October 12, 13 and 14.  Buy your tickets through the TFRW website.

Our friend, and associate member, Jill Dutton, is in a heated campaign for House District 2.  She and all the candidates will be participating in a candidate forum on Saturday, September 9 at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center, 1200 Houston Street, Sulphur Springs, Texas.  Hot Dogs and homemade ice cream will be served starting at 5:00 and the candidate forum will start at 6:30 if you’d like to go and see what they have to say, especially if this is your house district.
